Can you use the same mobile number on two phones? The answer is yes, it really is possible!

You can make this happen, thanks to the MultiSIM service offered by some mobile operators in the US, Canada, and other countries worldwide. We’re going to address a few different phone types, and carriers including AT&T, Verizon, Bell Canada, Rogers, and others.

In modern times, it’s become a norm to have more than one smartphone. This could be for many reasons, perhaps needing a phone for both business and personal matters.

Instead of having two different phone numbers, you might prefer to use the same cell number on two phones. Naturally, you can do this if you’re willing to add extra money to your rate. This function is known as a MultiSIM service. Check out later on if your carrier allows this service or something similar!

Now, before we dive deep into this article, this short video might be helpful.

Watch the first 60 seconds of this YouTube video and then continue reading below. This video mentions T-Mobile specifically, but the same method could work with other carriers as well.

The MultiSIM service allows you to have up to four SIM cards with the same number so that you can make or receive calls from any card. If you have an Internet rate, you can access the web from any of these SIM cards. The best thing is, that you can send and receive calls and messages from all devices.

Make sure you don’t confuse the duplicate SIM card with this service, since when registering a new SIM, it makes the old card unusable. This would prevent you from using each SIM at the same time.

How to Make Your Mobile Phone Number Appear As a Private Number

Keep in mind that if you turn on the ringer for all your devices, any calls, notifications, or messages will ring out on all smartphones simultaneously.

To ensure that your personal data is secured as well as keeping your browsing records private, you must consider getting a VPN for your phone. Click here to install one now.

One thing to note is that not all operators offer MultiSIM service. Vodafone is the only company in India with whom you can contract this service. Remember, it will involve an added cost.

Use the Same Mobile Number on Two Phones

As this service is relatively new, most of our Teleoperators do not provide this service as of this article’s publication date.

Here are the ones that offer it:

Vodafone:

Within Vodafone, the service has no upfront registration fee. According to the company website, the price of calls and other services follow the Price Plan’s tariffs for your Vodafone line.

The minimum consumption of your contract will divide between all the cards. If you want to replace your SIM with a multi-device service, you can do it through the Online Customers Area.

T-Mobile:

T-Mobile is one of the only carriers worldwide to offer this type of service. So, if you are looking to use the same mobile number across two phones (or other devices), you can try using the service, “T-Mobile DIGITS.”

If you’re a T-Mobile user, T-Mobile DIGITS will allow you to share a number across multiple devices. For example, you could have the same cell number between two phones, a phone, a tablet, a tablet, and a smartwatch, whichever combination you prefer. All you need to do to set up this service is contact T-Mobile; they should talk you through your options.

Verizon:

Verizon doesn’t necessarily let you directly share a number between two phones, but it does support sharing a cell number between a phone and a different smart device. If the reason you were searching for this was to receive calls on both your phone and another smart device, try Verizon Number Share.

Third-Party Apps:

So, clearly, there are not many options for directly sharing a number between two phones, though it is possible with some work. If you want an easy way to share a cell number across multiple devices, you can download an external app. Here are some apps that can help you use the same number across your smart devices:

Google Voice

Google Voice allows you to sign up for a different calling number from your current one. You can download the Google Voice app on any device that supports it, and in turn, you will be able to receive and make calls using that number. In effect, you will be able to use the same number on two phones!

When trying new apps on your device, just make sure that it is protected by premium antivirus, VPN, and privacy protection. You can subscribe to McAfee’s Total Protection for your PCs, Macs, smartphones, and tablets – all in one subscription.

TextFree

TextFree works similarly to Google Voice. You sign up for a new number and make an account. Download the app on both of your phones and voila! You can use the same number.

Burner

Again, the same formula—sign up for a number, download the app, and start making calls. Of these three apps, you can decide which one you want to download based on their reviews and ease of use. Personally, I think GV has the nicest interface.

Alternative Ways to Use Two Phones with a Single Sim

Google Voice

Note: This method only works in the USA.

If you have a Google Voice number, you can load it on as many devices as possible.

Simply get a Google Voice with a Gmail account and a valid mobile phone number for verification purposes only. You can then load the Google Voice number to as many devices as you want. And the best thing is, these devices don’t necessarily have to be mobile phones. You can also use a tablet if you want.

So, when you configure it on multiple devices, and someone calls that particular number, all of the devices will ring.

However, only the device that answers first will get connected to the call. Keep in mind that Google Voice needs an active internet connection. If you want to go wireless, you can use the 4G data from SIM or WiFi.

You can then use the Google Voice number or if you want to hide your identity, forward your cell phone number to it.

Call Forwarding

Many mobile phone companies provide another very handy feature – call forwarding. You can divert incoming calls from one number to another with call forwarding. Usually, you can configure this feature to route incoming calls immediately from one phone to another.

But, in some cases, mobile phone companies provide this service only when you fail to answer an incoming call after a certain number of rings. Check with your service provider to find out what options are available, how to set up this feature, and whether they charge any amount.

However, when using call forwarding, keep a few things in mind.

First, you cannot use the call forwarding feature to make a call appear from one phone number while it originates from another.

Second, call forwarding routes all incoming calls to another phone. You don’t get to choose which incoming calls to divert and which ones to keep on your primary phone.

Third, the phone number of the secondary phone stays the same. It doesn’t automatically change to the Sim number enabled by this feature.

Dual SIMs or Secondary Sims

Some network service providers offer secondary SIMs.

A secondary sim is basically a similar SIM that you put in a secondary mobile device. Secondary SIMs are capable of receiving phone calls. But only in situations when the primary phone is down for whatever reason. In this regard, it is similar to the call-forwarding feature we described above.

Be sure to check with your network provider to know whether they provide a similar service in your location.

Additionally, the name of these services also differs according to the region. It is also called dual SIM, dualism, or slave SIM in some places. So, don’t get confused by the naming convention.
